IES Power Plants Reduced Their Generation by 6.6% in 1H
OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 August 2009 was announced, that according to the current data, the IES-Holding's generating plants (TGC-5, TGC-6, TGC-7, and TGC-9) generated 33,748.3 mln kWh of power in the first half of the year 2009. It is 6.57% lower than in the year 2008, when they produced 36,120.9 mln kWh.
According to the analysis conducted by the IES Trading Division, which implements a single strategy of the company in the Russian wholesale power and capacity market, such a reduction in their generation is primarily caused by decrease in power consumption by industrial enterprises. This trend has been evident since the beginning of the year. Thus, in the first quarter of the year 2009 the power generation by the IES's power plants was 7.3% lower than in the same period of the previous year.
The heat production by the IES-Holding's HPP was reduced by 2.97% in the first half of the year amounting to 67 mln Gcal. In contrast to other IES's generating companies, GTC-5 demonstrated a growth in its heat output in the first and second quarters compared with the previous year. TGC-5 plants increased their heat production in February and March as in these months temperatures in the districts of its operation were lower than the last years' temperatures. Besides, population accounts high percentage of TGC-5 heat consumers (60-70%). According to the Trading, a general downward trend remains in the heat generation and is caused by a decrease in consumption by industrial enterprises.
