OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 August 2009 was announced, that Sibirtelecom expands the licensed zone of its presence in the Siberian Federal District and starts providing telecommunication services in the Republic of Tyva.

Sibirtelecom enters the new market in the Republic of Tyva with mobile communication services in the GSM-1800 standard that will be presented by its 100% subsidiary, Yeniseytelecom (ETK) mobile operator.

ETK is the leading mobile operator in Krasnoyarsk Krai and in the Republic of Khakassia. It has worked in Siberian market for 12 years. The new territory of providing the services (the Republic of Tyva) is strategically significant for the development of the business of ETK and Sibirtelecom in Siberia. At first ETK will provide mobile communication services of the GSM-1800 standard in the settlements of Kyzyl, Turan, Ust-Elegest and Shagonar. The operator has already mounted 6 base stations ensuring coverage in these settlements. The numbering capacity of the commutator switch of ETK CJSC in the city of Kyzyl is 30,000 telephone numbers. The communication network in the Republic of Tyva is organized using the own point-to-point RRL ETK-Minusinsk-Kyzyl.

By 2010 ETK intends to increase the number of base stations to 30 and to significantly expand its transport network in the republic".
