OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 August 2009 was announced, that President Alexander Lukashenko met with Pyotr Prokopovich, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, to receive his report.

In his report, Mr. Prokopovich informed the Head of State on the measures taken this year to support residential construction in Belarus and the action taken by the Government and regional executive committees to meet the objective of building 8 million square metres of residential dwelling in 2010.

The chief of the National Bank reported on the situation with the export of construction services in Belarus. It is noteworthy that this process is actively supported by Belarusian banks by financing worthwhile projects.

In addition, the meeting focused on the performance of 12 agricultural producers who have been sponsored by the National Bank. All the instructions given by the President in this respect have been accomplished, he said.

Special attention during the meeting was paid to the development of the Polesye region. The programme encompasses seven districts of Belarus adjacent to the Pripyat River and is expected to fuel a rapid social and economic growth of this area, tap its economic potential.
