OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2009. For this purpose the Concern has put into force an ecological policy.

The policy was enacted by an order of Director General of Energoatom Concern Sergey Obozov on Aug 18 2009.

The Ecological Policy of Energoatom Concern is based on the Ecological Policy of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation stipulating the safe and economically efficiency production of electric and thermal energy by nuclear power plants. This policy is supposed to stimulate the execution of the programs to build, operate, modernize and decommission nuclear reactors and to treat spent nuclear fuel, radioactive waste and hazardous chemical matters.

The key goal of the Ecological Policy of Energoatom Concern is to minimize the impact of its NPPs on the environment and the personnel. All sub-divisions of the Concern have been told to comply with this document. The policy stipulates regular inspection of their compliance with the national standard GOS ISO 14010–2007.

With the help of independent experts, the Concern will analyze the results of the measures stipulated by the Ecological Policy so as to be able to further improve the safety and efficiency of the NPPs.
