OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 August 2009 was announced, that Sevmash held a solemn meeting devoted to the 90-th anniversary of atomic submarines designer general S.N. Kovalev.

August 15, S. Kovalev celebrated his 90 anniversary. Among numerous colleagues and friends there were representatives from Sevmash at the celebration party in St. Petersburg, since 73 atomic submarines were built according to projects of S.Kovalev. S.Kovalev spent more than 10 years on mission in Severodvinsk and is the honorable citizen of the town.

Director General of Sevmash N. Kalistratov, deputy head of the city administration V.Dyukarev, Chief of Belomorskaya Naval Base Staff S.Barannikov, Director General of shipbuilding center “Zvezdochka” V. Nikitin and ACT “Arktika” А. Telepnev, enterprise veterans spoke in public at the solemn ceremony.

According to the words of Deputy Chief Engineer of Sevmash O. Kuznetsov, S. Kovalev regretted that his health did not allow him to attend this solemn meeting, however, he sent a telegram with tender thanks.
