Volume of Loans Provided by Moldovan Banks in Leis Grew by 8,93%
OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2009. In July, the volume of loans provided by Moldovan banks in the national currency grew by to 8.93% (53.4 million leis) and amounted to 651.1 million leis. According to the National Bank of Moldova, in July, the volume of loans provided in foreign currency decreased by 60.8 million leis and amounted to 435.1 million leis.
In July, loans in leis and foreign currency provided to legal entities and individuals totaled 1 billion 086.6 million leis, which is almost the same as in June - 1 billion 093.6 million leis. In July, the most popular loans were granted for the period from 6 to 12 months, amounting to 295.3 million leis (45.3% of the total loans in leis), and loans provided for more than 12 months, amounted to 270, 78 million leis (41.56%).
Loans for the period over one year in leis for legal entities were provided by commercial banks at a rate of 18.52%, while the average rate for all categories of loans amounted to 17.27%. In July, the average rate on the loans in leis in the banking system declined by 17.97% as compared to 18.94% in June.
The most demanded foreign currency loans were loans for the period over one year (315.9 million leis or 72.6% of the total amount of loans in the foreign currency) and for the period from 6 up to 12 months (90.75 million leis or 20.85%). Loans for the period over one year for legal entities were provided at a rate of 12.7%, while the average rate for all categories of the foreign currency loans amounted to 12.71%.
The average rate on the foreign currency loans in the banking system declined by 12.14% as compared to 13.09% in June.
