UMMC to Ramp Up Ore Extraction in Safyanovsky Deposit by Quarter
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2009. In 2010 UMMC plans increase of ore extraction in Safyanovsky deposit up to 1.4 million of tones (27% growth against expected index of 2009). This deposit is developed by a branch of JSC “Uralelectromed” (an enterprise of the metallurgical complex of UMMC) – the “Safyanovskaya med”, reported the press-centre of UMMC.
Today some preparatory works to increase ore extraction are effected in the deposit. And, in particular, the enterprise reconstructs approach lines to provide forming of extra multi-car trains. Also it’s expected to increase a quantity of mining fleet. ‘The project of ramping up ore extraction in Safianovsky deposit is stipulated by strategic plan for expansion of mining complex of UMMC till 2020. The company is interested in receiving extra feed-stock by means of further deposit development’ – Grigoriy Rudoi , the Director of mining practice of UMMC, mentions.
The branch of JSC “Uralelctromed” the “Safyanovskaya med” specializes in open-pit mining of sulfide, copper and copper-zinc ores, and fluxing limestone. In 2008 the factory made up 1.1 mln tones of ore.
In the long view, the “Safianovskaya med” plans to convert to subsurface ore extraction. At the moment the project of subsurface pit construction is accomplished and has already passed the public examination.
