OREANDA-NEWS. On 21 August 2009 was announced, that Ashgabat will host the International Investment Forum on 15-17 October, the first such event in the history of Turkmenistan. During these three days, the Exhibition Center "Sergi kosgi" will turn into an open ground for business meetings and talks on topical issues of economic cooperation. It is expected that managers of large foreign companies, stock exchanges, commercial banks, leading international rating agencies will get together in Ashgabat. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan is in charge of organizing this forum with the support of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), the programme of the forum will feature "round tables". The forum will be held in two parallel streams - plenary and interactive sessions. The topic of the first stream is the strategy and investment opportunities for development of oil and gas and chemical sectors of Turkmenistan.

The second stream sessions will discuss prospects for investment projects in a wide range of areas, including real estate, construction, social sphere, engineering and transport infrastructure, textile industry, healthcare and medical industry, agro-industry, power industry, in particular the use of alternative energy sources, advanced information technologies and telecommunications, banking sector. It is also planned to hold a special presentation of the tourist zone "Avaza".

It is expected that foreign partners will get full information about the economic potential of Turkmenistan and its solid "investment portfolio", which includes both ongoing and scheduled projects, and will be able to identify priority sectors for investment, as well as present their proposals for cooperation.

An exhibition of economic achievements of Turkmenistan will open on the final day of the forum in "Sergi kosgi". It will be dedicated to the 18th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.
