Metallurgic Plant Named after Serov Received ISO/TS 16949:2002
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2009. Following the results of re-certification audit JSC “Metallurgic plant named after A.K. Serov” (an enterprise of the ferrous division of UMMC) has received an international certification according to the Standard ISO-TS 16949:2002 with the period of validity till 2012, reported the press-centre of UMMC.
Positive auditors’ estimate of the plant was given by experts of the firm “TUV Rheinland” (the worldwide leader in the sphere of independent audit). This spring for 3 days independent experts had audited conformity of all processes of the plant (from production scheduling up to production distribution) with the international quality guides.
‘Availability of the certification according to the standard ISO/TS 16949:2002 is a mandatory requirement of practically all contracts for delivery of automobile components to Russian and international customers’ – Yevgeny Prein, the Chief Engineer of the Metallurgic plant named after A.K.Serov, mentions. – This document is a seller’s considerable competitive advantage, which guarantees to the customer the quality product within the stipulated period.
This certification covers semi-fabricated products, hot-rolled bars, cold-drawn gage rods, grinded and polished, made of carbon and alloyed steel for automotive industry.
It should be mentioned that the Standard ISO/TS 16949:2002 includes additional requirements concerning the quality management system for suppliers of components and materials for automotive industry. As it has been reported, primarily “Metallurgical plant named after A.K.Serov” received the certification according to the standard ISO/TS 16949:2002 in summer of 2006for a term of 3 years. Moreover, the enterprise also has valid certification of Quality Management System pursuant to the Standard ISO 9001:2000 and Ecological Management System according to the Standard ISO 14001:2004.
