OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 August 2009 was announced, that three more cages for trout breeding made in Karelia will be delivered soon to Lake Chudskoye. This is the second order to be exported from the republic. Karelian fish-farmers appreciate quality of products made by Grigory Fedorenko's small enterprise which in one and a half years has produced almost forty cages.

Grigory Fedorenko has started his business in Karelia in the beginning of the 1990s, having found the first in the republic private fishing brigade. Then he switched over to netting for industrial fishery.

– After Chinese production has undermined my business, the question arose what to do next. The idea came into my mind to make cages for trout-breeding farms, as at that time they were improvised, needless to mention their quality. I travelled a lot studying world experience. I developed my own design. I used to fish, now I help to breed it, paying my debts to nature, – Grigory Fedorenko smiles.

– In fact, there are no enterprises of this kind either in Karelia, or, perhaps, in Russia, – Head of the Fish Farmin Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fish Industry and Ecology Igor Pepelyayev says. – On the price/quality ratio they may compete to the best foreign samples.

In Grigory Fedorenko's backlog of orders there are ten more cages. Trout breeding is developing in Karelia with confidence, now our republic provides for almost 70% of needs in the Russian Federation. However, facilities are behindhand, modern cages are delivered to only about ten of fourty farms operating in the republic. Interest to Karelian product also grows among entrepreneurs outside the republic limits.

Grigory Fedorenko also plans to produce cribs for automatic fish feeding.

– First, I'll take a look what is already invented in this area, then I'll make it my way, – Grigory Fedorenko says. – I also wish firms running hotels or camp sites on coasts of reservoirs in Karelia start demanding caged of small size. Thus, it would be possible to introduce safe, ecologically clean amateur fishery that would raise tourist potential of our republic, especially it concerns rural tourism growing so popular now.

– We should not underestimate role of small business, – Minister of of Agriculture, Fish Industry and Ecology of the RK Grigory Manuilov emphasizes, – it is capable to render essential contribution to rise of regional economy. Not without reason development of small forms of managing is one of priority directions of the national project Agro-Industrial Complex Development and is included in some federal and republican target programs.
