OREANDA-NEWS. On August 18, 2009 Consortium of enterprises with participation of VNIIPTMASH JSC (is incorporated in Uralmash machine-building corporation) has won tender for supply of fuel handling machine for unit one of Novovoronezhskaya  NPP-2 with reactor of VVER-1000 type. The tender was organized by Atomenergoprom JSC. It is planned to put into operation the first unit of NPP by 2012, the second one - by 2013, the press-centre of Uralmash reported.

Fuel handling machine is intended for performing transport and technological operations connected with refueling of atomic fuel in reactor.

At present people study technical documentation and are getting prepared for contract signing. The term of equipment supply is the second quarter of 2011.

The project of fuel handling machine for Novovoronezhskaya  NPP-2 is being developed jointly  by the experts of VNIIPTMASH JSC, head organization for transport and handling equipment, and VNIIAM JSC. The equipment will be manufactured at Uralmashplant.

In the latest years Uralmash has manufactured two fuel-handling machines for Kudankulam NPP (India). The project for the Russian NPP will be developed on the basis of Indian project. The fuel handling machine for Novovoronezhskaya  NPP-2 will be the first machine of new design type for new nuclear power plants with reactor of VVER type.

Novovoronezhskaya  NPP-2 is the first of the new stations the construction of which is carried out within the frames of Federal task program of development of nuclear energy industry.
