RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 August 2009 was announced, that over the week of August 10 – August 14, 2009, the RTS Index went down by 1.87% to reach 1,059.92 points (1,080.08 points as of August 7, 2009). Most of the negative impact on the Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (minus 9.75 points), ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) (minus 9.31 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSN) (minus 4.91 points).

The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase closing at 940.49 points (1.41% up against 927.45 points as of August 7, 2009). Last week most key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market remained in the positive territory. The largest decline was, however, demonstrated by the oil & gas sector, with the RTS Index – Oil & Gas going down by 4.47%. A significant decrease was also registered in the industrial sector, with the corresponding index losing 2.70%. The largest growth was reported by the consumer & retail sector, with the RTS Index – Consumer & Retail climbing 2.83%.

For the last week the US dollar gained 3.09% against the RF rouble to reach 32.15 roubles per US dollar (31.18 as of August 7, 2009).

The total trading volume on RTS for the week August10 – August 14, 2009 equaled USD7.1 billion (226.4 billion roubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,045.66 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD428.314 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD360.749 million and ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSN) with a turnover of USD90.028 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 39.59%, 33.34% and 8.32% respectively.

The week's top gainers were privileged shares of Transneft (TRNFP) that went up by 10.29% to USD568 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "RusHydro" (HYDR) – by 5.75% to USD0.0423 and ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) that went up by 5.41% to reach USD3.9.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC LSR Group (LSRG) that fell in price by 7.34% to reach USD12.5 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-1" (OGKA) – by 6.82% to USD0.0205 and ordinary shares of JSC "WGC-3" (OGKC) – by 4.85% to USD0.049.
