OREANDA-NEWS. August 14, 2009. The amount of financial resources drawn into the national space area this year totals over UAH 2.5 billion. The Head of National Space Agency of Ukraine Olexandr Zinchenko announced during a briefing.

“The Government spares no effort to back the space area: this year the amount of circulating assets, taking into account Canadian credit (for creating of a national satellite communication system), will equal UAH 2.5 billion,” he stressed.

According to Olexandr Zinchenko, this year’s budget significantly exceeds the biggest over the years of independence of Ukraine budget planned for the space branch in 2008, which was UAH 246 million. He explained that the lion’s share of funds would be directed to financing of work of leading enterprises of the area such as Pivdenne Design Bureau, Pivdenny Machine-Building Plant, Khartron Production Association, Arsenal state-owned enterprise. In total, 35 enterprises of the space area will take part in realization of projects.

The head of NSAU also added that amount of gross output in the space area over the first half of 2009 was around 91% as compared to analogous period of last year. That is the expected downfall hasn’t happened, he summarized. “Despite the complicated situation the branch will stand the crunch,” Olexandr Zinchenko assured.
