First Vice PM of Ukraine Held Meeting on Sugar Market
OREANDA-NEWS. On August 14, 2009 The First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Turchynov has held a meeting dedicated to the issues of stabilization of the price situation on sugar market.
Olexandr Turchynov commissioned the State Material Reserve Committee and the Agrarian Fund of Ukraine to ensure intervention of sugar in order to normalize the situation on the market. “No single reason for soaring of sugar price exists,” the First Vice Prime Minister emphasized. He underlined that special mobile groups were created to react to artificial soaring of sugar price by speculators. So, owing to joint actions of the mobile group comprised of MIA and STA employees in several areas of Poltava region for 2 days of checks retail prices have been downed from UAH 8.25 per kilogram to UAH 4.7 per kilogram.
Moreover, with an aim to cease speculations and possible sabotage on the part of sugar traders the First Vice Prime Minister gave a commission to set up a workgroup including employees of STA, MIA and State Inspection for Price Control. “The price situation will be normalized and, what is more, from September 1 sales of sugar of the new yield will commence,” Olexandr Turchynov underlined.
