Customs Union Legislation to Govern Common Customs Area
OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2009. The common customs area of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will be governed by the Customs Code of the Customs Union rather than by the national laws of the three countries. Such conceptual approach was approved at a session of the Commission of the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan in Moscow, Andrei Kobyakov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, told reporters following a session of the Commission of the Customs Union in Moscow, reported the Official website government.by.
The issue of the uniform approaches to the implementation of the Commission’s resolutions in the common customs area was initiated by the Belarusian side.
The plan of gradual redeployment of state control from the Belarusian-Russian border onto the exterior border of the Customs Union has been sent for finalization, Vice-Premier of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov told reporters.
According to Andrei Kobyakov, all agencies concerned, namely thecustoms agencies, ministries of healthcare, agriculture and transport, need to revise the document in order to avoid any discrepancies when the customs control is redeployed.
The control will be redeployed onto the exterior border of the Customs Union in line with the schedule approved earlier, Andrei Kobyakov said.
