OREANDA-NEWS. On August 12, 2009 President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Special Envoy of the King of Jordan for Central Asia Mr. Abdullah Saleh Abdelrahim Wreikat, reported the Official website turkmenistan.gov.tm.

Thanking for the opportunity of a personal meeting the guest conveyed the heartfelt greetings of King of Jordan Abdullah II bin al-Hussein, who had expressed the willingness to further the intergovernmental dialogue that had been brought up to a qualitatively new, higher level meeting mutual interests, to the Turkmen leader.

Thanking for the cordial greetings Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that he had the warm recollections of the meetings with King Abdullah II during the official visit to Jordan this July as well that had resulted in specifying the approaches of two countries to building long-term mutually advantageous partnership. Highly appreciating the effectiveness of the talks at various levels the President expressed the best wishes and invitation to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at any convenient time to the King of Jordan.

The Turkmen leader noted that building the bridge of friendship and cooperation with the countries of the Arab world was a major priority of the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan that stood steadfast to the policy of friendliness and interested international dialogue.

The guest emphasized that Jordan was intensively and friendly interested in the grandiose changes taking place in Turkmenistan and welcomed the progressive reforms implemented under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Special Envoy of King of Jordan said that the people of Jordan always rejoiced at the Turkmen people’s achievements and congratulated the President on the opening of the supermodern medical centres in Ashgabat and publication of his fundamental scientific work –The Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan that had drawn a wide response in the scientific circles.

Highly appreciating mutual interest of Turkmenistan and Jordan in developing the traditionally friendly relations the sides expressed belief that implementation of the profound potential of cooperation would promote the prosperity of two countries and wellbeing of two peoples.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the ways to intensify mutually advantageous cooperation in compliance with the priorities of national development. The key fields of intergovernmental collaboration included trade and economy, fuel and energy sector, agriculture, industry. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Jordanian partners to collaborate in the ongoing large-scale projects and programme sin Turkmenistan including the project on creation of Avaza national tourism zone – the world-class seaside resort on the Caspian Sea coast.

The President and his guest unanimously called for intensifying humanitarian contacts and focused on the need for further cultural exchange that promoted strengthening mutual understanding and confidence between to fraternal peoples.

In conclusion Mr. Abdullah Saleh Abdelrahim Wreikat expressed profound gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the constructive approach to cooperation with Jordan that looked forward for establishing strategic partnership with Turkmenistan.
