OREANDA-NEWS. On 12 August 2009 was announced, that according to the data of the international financial magazine "The Banker" Belarusbank is ranked 452 among the top-1000 world banks. Comparing to previous year the bank has moved 175 positions up in rank. Such step up has been achieved due to Tier 1 Capital increase to USD 1160 million.

The raise of Belarusbank in ranking of the largest world banks evidences stable functioning of the bank and strengthening of its positions in Republic of Belarus and abroad.

The volatility of international financial markets has negatively influenced the banking sector of majority countries of CIS, Europe and Asia. The evidence of it is a reduction of positions of the largest banks in "The Banker" ranking. According to the edition's information the number of leading banking institutions in Russia lost their high positions in ranking and moved to lower ones: Gasprombank moved to 112 from 196 place, VTB Bank (from 60 to 70), Sberbank of Russia (from 33 to 38).

The following banks from Belarus are among the top-1000 banks: Belagroprombank, Belarusbank, Priorbank and Belpromstroibank.
