Kazakhtelecom Reported Projects Implementation Results for 1H
OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2009. Kazakhtelecom (Astana), the listed company of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), informed KASE that the capital investments volume for six months of 2009 is forecasted at KZT5 billion 359 million. The company invested to projects on telecommunications future development and modernization, reported the press-centre of KASE.
Breakthrough projects
During six months of 2009 were implemented large projects through the capital investments.
In particular, the project "Transition of telecommunications network of Kazakhtelecom to the Next Generation Network". In January multi-service equipment was delivered with the capacity of 77,012 ports for Almaty and Shymkent cities. In May was signed the acceptance certificate for exploitation of the NGN network in Aktobe. In the nearest time will be procured equipment for subscribers access for Astana, Atyrau, Almaty, Aktau, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk and Shymkent cities with the total capacity of 171,623 ports. In total, from the project implementation beginning using NGN technologies Kazakhtelecom modernizes and extends networks in Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Taraz, Taldykorgan, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semipalatinsk, Shymkent and Aktobe, where the NGN total capacity made up 725,378 subscribers.
On the second project "Modernization and development of networks using the CDMA technology" in six months of 2009 was continued connection of subscribers to CDMA-450 network. In total, from June of 2008 to June of 2009 were connected 111,513 subscribers.
Area exchange construction
In 2009, will be constructed 14 area fiber-optic communication lines with the length over 430 km and 15 new digital radio relay lines with the length over 600 km.
EV-DO network development
Kazakhtelecom jointly with Altel started EV-DO based wireless telecommunications access project implementation.
EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) - the technology used in mobile networks of the CDMA standard to transfer data. The technology allows the broad banded "Megaline" Internet access regardless of the cable network condition. In six months of 2009 were connected 2,000 clients.
SIP-telephony
In February, the company introduced new telephone communications using the SIP protocol (Session Initiation Protocol), which combines traditional telephone communications with the data transfer of IP-networks. As a result were connected 1,800 subscribers.
ID TV services
Kazakhtelecom starter providing IDTV services in Astana. Interactive IPTV digital television provides to clients an access not only to TV channels, but opens other possibilities. Subscribers can use such services as Video on Demand, Near Video on Demand, Time shifting, Network personal video recorder.
As of July 23, 09, in Astana were registered 1,695 subscribers.
