Deflation in Moldova Made 0,6% in July
OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2009. According to the National Statistics Bureau, prices for foodstuffs reduced in January-July 2009 by 7.8 per cent, for non-food goods – by 0.1 per cent.
Fees for services rendered to population increased by 1 per cent for the same period of time. It was has been reported earlier, the inflation rate in Moldova in January-July last year amounted to 5.3 per cent. According to the National Statistics Bureau, prices for foodstuffs reduced by 2.3 per cent, fees for services – by 0.2 per cent, while prices for non-food goods increased by 0.6 per cent in comparison with the previous month.
In particular, in July 2009 Moldova saw the reduction of prices for potato - by 22.5 per cent, tomatoes – by 29.2 per cent, cucumbers – by 30.6 per cent, egg-plants – by 17.2 per cent, milk and dairy products - by 1 per cent, vegetable oil - by 0.9 per cent, beef and pork – by 1.3 per cent. At the same time, prices for dietary eggs rose by 6.3 per cent, sugar – by 2.8 per cent, onion – by 9.8 per cent.
Among the non-food goods, the most considerable growth of prices was registered for liquefied gas in gas-cylinders – by 10.9 per cent, fuel – by 8.9 per cent, medicines – by 2.6 per cent. At the same time, prices for coal went down by 5 per cent, for car spare parts – by 1.6 per cent, clothes, shoes, kitchen and bedroom furniture, building materials – by 1 per cent. In July 2009, Moldova was registered reduction of fees for kindergartens’ services – by 2.7 per cent, international railway transportation – by 1 per cent.
