OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2009. Belarusian agricultural companies have harvested 3.265,000 tonnes of grain including 407,000 tonnes of grain gathered, it was learnt from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The Minsk oblast leads the harvesting campaign in the country with 785,000 tonnes of grain. It is followed by the Brest oblast (709,000 tonnes), the Grodno oblast (587,000 tonnes), the Gomel oblast (550,000 tonnes), the Mogilev oblast (290,900 tonnes) and the Vitebsk oblast (241,000 tonnes).

As of today, around 832,000 hectares under grain and leguminous crops apart for maize (or 35% of the total area) have been already cropped. Companies of the Brest oblast have already harvested 50% of the areas under crops. The Gomel oblast has harvested 46%, the Grodno oblast – 41%, The Minsk oblast – 32%, the Mogilev oblast – 22%, the Vitebsk oblast – 19%. Companies of the Grodno oblast are the leaders of the harvesting campaign in terms of crop yield. On average, they harvest 47.5 centners per hectare. In Belarus, the average grain yield makes up 39.3 centners per hectare, which is 2.4 centners more as against the same period last year.

Some 11,232 grain harvesters are involved in the harvesting campaign this year.
