OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2009. Since 2008 a crude oil and petroleum product transhipment company SIA Ventspils nafta terminals, a subsidiary of joint-stock company Ventspils nafta, has donated more than 0.8 millions lats for construction of a new and modern library in Parventa – with a ceremonial opening the library will be commissioned today, 6 August 2009, reported the press-centre of SIA Ventspils nafta.

Every year SIA Ventspils nafta terminals is allocating considerable financing for development of Ventspils city and support of important cultural, educational and sports activities. In 2008 more than a half of the sum, almost 0.9 millions lats, was spent in the field of culture: about 0.45 millions lats – for construction of Parventa library, and about 33,000 lats were used for co-financing of cultural projects. Also in 2009 half of the sum SIA Ventspils nafta terminals devotes to the city, which exceeds 0.7 millions lats, was spent on cultural objects: more than 0.35 millions lats on construction of Parventa library, and almost 40,000 for co-financing of cultural projects.

The new library in Parventa plays an essential role in the improvement of the network of Ventspils libraries, which is planned to be informational, cultural and social centre of a large district of Ventspils city. Premises of the library will be also used for organization of different educational and cultural events, exhibitions and concerts. Arrangements of construction of Parventa library were started in 2006, construction works – in May 2008, and to the residents of Ventspils library in Parventa becomes as a present for 719th anniversary of the town in August 2009.

SIA Ventspils nafta terminals is a subsidiary of a/s Ventspils nafta. 51% of it belongs to a/s Ventspils nafta, but 49% – to Vitol’s company Euromin Holdings Limited. The terminal renders transit services: reception of crude oil and gas oil through the pipelines, reception of gas oil, motor gasoline and other petroleum products by rail and sea, as well as storage and transshipment of all these products.
