OREANDA-NEWS. August 04, 2009. Eurasian Bank has demonstrated significant growth of key performance indicators during January-June 2009, reported the press-centre of Eurasian Bank.

In the reporting period the assets of the Bank have increased from KZT 272 001 mln. to KZT 352 807 mln., or by 29.7%. Thus, the Bank has moved from 9th to 7th place in ranking of Kazakh banks. Equity of the Bank has grown from KZT 25 523 mln. to KZT 28 426 mln., or by 11,4% (moving the Bank from 11th to 8th place). Loan portfolio has increased from KZT 127 240 mln. to KZT 155 430 mln., or by 21.7%.

In H1 2009 the liabilities of the Bank have increased from KZT 246 478 mln. to KZT 324 381 mln., or by 31.6%. The significant growth of the Bank’s liabilities is stipulated by the dynamic growth of deposit portfolio, which in reporting period has increased from KZT 134 074 mln. to KZT 197 055 mln., or by 47% (moving the Bank from 9th to 8th place). At the same time the corporate deposit portfolio has increased from KZT 100 283 mln. to KZT 118 175 mln., or by 17,8% (moving the Bank from 9th to 8th place). Meanwhile, retail deposit portfolio has grown from KZT 33 791 mln. to KZT 78 880 mln., or by 133.5%. During the first half of the 2009, Eurasian Bank has doubled its market share from 2.25% to current 4.81% resulting in shift among Kazakh banks ranking from 8th to 6th place.

In H1 2009 the Bank’s net profit amounted to KZT 163 mln. in comparison with KZT 865 mln. in the same period of 2008.

"Financial performance of Eurasian bank in the first half of 2009 has demonstrated its ability to improve key indicators despite unfavorable market environment. Effective business strategy strongly supported by shareholders has enabled the Bank to increase market share by assets, equity, loan and deposit portfolio and other indicators. In H2 2009 Eurasian bank plans further strengthen its position in the domestic financial market", - said Mr. Kairat Beketov, Acting Chairman of the Management Board.

Loan portfolio quality is a high priority of the Bank's activity. Since the beginning of the year total amount of non-performing loans (NPLs), represented by doubtful 5, loss loans, and provision on homogeneous loans according to FSA methodology, has increased from KZT 4 647 mln. to KZT 7 215 mln. The share of NPLs in total loan portfolio has increased from 3.63% to 4.19%. At the same time level of provisions in portfolio has increased from 4.25% to 4.61% resulting in full NPLs coverage by provisions.
