OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 August 2009 was announced, that the construction of the two major facilities has moved into high gear in Turkmenistan. The facilities are being built by the Ukrainian companies for many years.

Today's issue of Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper published a report on the beginning of work at a unique engineering-communication tunnel running under Ashgabat and final stage of construction of the railway bridge Atamurat - Kerkichi across Amu Darya river. The tunnel is being built by Ukrainian company "Interbudmontazh", while the bridge is being built by Ukrtransstroy state corporation.

It should be recalled that until recently the situation at these sites was almost deadlocked. Despite the multimillion front payments and strict compliance with the terms of the contract by the Turkmen side, the Ukrainian contractors repeatedly violated the terms of the contracts and schedule of work and upset the commissioning of these facilities. The construction was frozen.

The situation improved after personal intervention by the President of Turkmenistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the two sites and together with Ukrainian representatives discussed the current problems. After a series of consultations and negotiations with the top leadership of Ukraine, there were made crucial decisions that removed the problems impeding the progress of construction.
