OREANDA-NEWS. August 04, 2009. During the 6 months after Russia’s entry into the international motor third party liability insurance system "Green Card" (on 01 January 2009), ROSNO has sold over 9 thousand policies for the total amount of over 35.2 mln roubles, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

In the geographical division of ROSNO’s Green Card policy sales, numerical superiority is with regional sales: Moscow accounts for just about 23% of the sold policies. In the Russian capital, Green Card is purchased both by organizations (58%) and private individuals (42%). The most popular policies are those which are intended for use in all countries included in the Green Card system (85%), and not only in the CIS countries. As for the regions, they show an opposite trend: over half of all insurants are private individuals whose policies are only valid in the CIS countries (60%).

Among ROSNO’s clients, the Green Card policies are most popular in the Central (43%), North-Western (16%) and Southern (13%) federal okrugs. The sales leaders are such cities as Bryansk (20%), Belgorod (11%), St. Petersburg (10%), Smolensk (10%), and Rostov-on-Don (10%).

In the first half of 2009, there were around two dozens of insured accidents wherein ROSNO’s insurants were declared a guilty party (in Poland, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Spain, and Italy). About one half of these accidents occurred in Germany and Poland. Also, it is these two countries, where major losses from the company car accidents were registered.

Among foreign citizens holding the Green Card policies, the major share of all RF visitors belongs to representatives of Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania. As compared to these three countries, the drivers from the European economic zone (Germany, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Scandinavian countries, etc.).

Operating as a Russian agent of the National Bureau "Green Card" (member of the Russian Insurance Association), ROSNO registered 32 accidents involving foreign holders of the Green Card policies in Russia. In case of 23 accidents where the Russians suffered from the foreign holders of the Green Card policies, payments have already been made. Other losses are being settled.
