Experts Propose Way Out from Crisis Faced by Moldavian Wineries
OREANDA-NEWS. August 03, 2009. The anti-crisis solutions for winemaking sector of the country include joint efforts of the wine companies, public authorities and international organizations that support the economic development of Moldova,-the expert of Expert Group Alex Oprunenco considers.
According to him, more legislative changes, which could be approved by the future parliament, are required. Thus, Alex Oprunenco proposes to withdraw the ban on the exports of wine distillates. Currently, the Law on Wine and Vine-growing restricts export of wine distillates. Another solution would be to grant subsidies to the wine industry.
The expert note that, although this measure is stipulated in Restoration and Development of the branch program for 2002 -2020, it is not implemented. Meanwhile, export of wine in other countries is subsided. The subsidy of 2-3 euros cents per liter seems reasonable. However, taking into account the state of the public budget, it seems not realistic in the nearest future.
The expert considers appropriate to cancel or review the concept of the trade mark application, which currently do not carry additional information for the client and is difficult to apply. Cancellation of the mark would mean increasing the price competitiveness of Moldovan wines.
Among other measures it is reasonable to review procedure of certification of goods and cancel tax collections to the support of vineyards fund.
