OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 August 2009 was announced, that this week Head of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov stays in Kostomuksha.

Officially, Sergey Katanandov is on vacation, however, as usual, he combines recreation with work. During his trips to regions of Karelia he meets with the management, visits enterprises, gets acquainted with social and economic situation.

On July 28 Head of the republic went to the village of Voknavolok near Kostomuksha, visited local school there and got acquainted with work of the fire station. Another point of interest of the Head of the republic was Kalevala National Park and the village of Sudnozero. On July 29 Sergey Katanandov held a meeting in Administration of Kostomuksha city district devoted to issues of forestry development.

Subject of the meeting in many respects was defined by trips of the previous day. For example, residents of Voknavolok complained to Sergey Katanandov that living in the forest they cannot get wood to build houses. At the meeting Head of the republic has resolved this paradox sternly, having reprimanded management of Kostomuksha timber enterprise. Administration of Kostomuksha was offered to establish strict control over allocation of forest resources. Sergey Katanandov has demanded to establish personal responsibility of heads for allocation of wood to the population for housing construction.

Head of the republic also has once again reminded the city administration and timber merchants that harvested wood should be processed on-site. Aspects of organization of high-level processing of wood have been discussed in Kostomuksha.

After the meeting Head of the republic has visited a number of building sites – residential community and a swimming pool under construction. Construction of the swimming pool is at the lock-up stage and the object is supposed to be commissioned this year.
