OREANDA-NEWS. On July 31, 2009 President Vladimir Voronin chaired a meeting on the march of the process of construction of gas pipelines in Moldovan settlements, the presidential press service has said.

The participants in the meeting ascertained that another 751 settlements are still to be connected to the gas supply, stressing that the process of constructing gas pipelines in these settlements is at different stages of implementation.

Thus, the participants in the meeting said that 40 gas pipelines have been already partially and fully constructed, but they have not been put into operation on different grounds. The president asked to consider, in a ten-day period, the reasons for which the completed gas pipelines have not been set to work, so as to quickly solve the concerned problem.

Vladimir Voronin also referred to the need to finish the construction works at those 125 planned inter-rural gas pipelines, and where it is possible, to start the works of construction of gas pipelines in the settlements having the project documents in August-September. The head of state also pointed out the imperative to speed up the designing works for the settlements which have not been connected to gas supply as yet.

The president reiterated, on this occasion again, the significance to carry out the national programme on gas supply, and that all the factors in charge join efforts so as to successfully complete it.
