Kyrgyzstan Implements 1st Phase of Management Reforms
OREANDA-NEWS. July 31, 2009. This September the first phase of management reforms will be implemented in the country, said President of the Kyrgyz Republic Kurmanbek Bakiev in his Address to the people of Kyrgyzstan, reported the press-centre of IBC.
The reforms will include the removal of duplication and overlap in the activities of the government, strict regulation of activities and increase of personal responsibility of officials, as well as optimization of the size of bureaucracy, Kurmanbek Bakiyev said.
Creating an enabling business environment and investment climate is fundamental for wider economic growth.
“There is a need to strengthen legal protection and inviolability of private property,” stressed President Bakiev. In order to restrict officials’ interference in the business activity, the government has to develop clear legal mechanisms.
First steps in this direction have already been taken. “In early June at a meeting with business representatives, we agreed to establish a special advisory council,” said President. The council will discuss current issues and draft laws affecting business activity.
