Net Profit of Tallinn Port Increased by 9% in H1 09
OREANDA-NEWS. July 30, 2009. In the first half of 2009, net profit of AS Tallinna Sadam (Tallinn port) increased by 9%, year-on-year, to EEK 276 mln. In the reported period, sales revenue of Tallinna Sadama grew by 7%, year-on-year, to EEK 657 mln, dv.ee informs. The volume of cargo handled in the port increased by 0.6 million tonnes (+4%) to 15.4 mln t.
In 2008, investments of Tallinna Sadam totaled EEK 545 mln (+EEK 349 mln, year-on-year) with the majority of them used for the expansion of a container terminal in Muuga and Paldiski port.
Commercial Seaport of Tallinn is a large cargo and passenger seaport located at the southern shore of the Tallinn Bay. It was founded in 1219. Tallinn is the third largest port of the Baltic Sea after St. Petersburg and Primorsk. The port consists of 5 port ones: Muuga, Old City Harbour, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2008, the port handled 29.077 million tonnes.
