OREANDA-NEWS. July 30, 2009. At the Nizhnekamsk CHP the session of the Board of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Republic of Tatarstan. Environmental safety provision in the area of big industrial facilities impact on example of Nizhnekamsk industrial facility and the free economic zone "Alabuga" will be the major topic of discussions.

The branch of JSC "Generation Company" – "Nizhnekamsk CHP" – is one of the leading power generating companies of Russia and Tatarstan. Nizhnekamsk CHP is one of the biggest nature consumers of Republic. It is included in the master plan of Nizhnekamsk CHP. That’s why the nature conservation activity at Nizhnekamsk CHP cannot but consider the problems of general environmental safety of the increasing industrial region.

In the first six months this year at Nizhnekamsk CHP have been implemented the nature conservation measures for amount of 3,728.7 th. rubles, which allowed prevent the emissions to the atmosphere of 456 tons of nitrogen oxide, recycle over 1,200 tons of the wastes of water pre-treatment, use in the system of technical water supply over 1.6 million cub. m of the recycled drainage water. Economical effect gained from the measures constituted over 19.5 million rubles, and prevented environmental damage constituted over 4.9 million rubles.

In JSC "Generation Company" the competition was conducted for the bets organization and implementation of the nature conservation among the Company branches. At Nizhnekamsk CHP were approved the Regulations for conducting the same competition among the structural divisions of the branch for the best organization and implementing the nature conservation activity. Competing among themselves the staff of Nizhnekamsk CHP by their own hands accomplished the territory of the plant.

In May 2009 at the plant the readiness was checked of the integrated system of management in the area of environmental protection, labor protection and industrial safety to certification for compliance with the requirements of IS ISO 14001:2004 and IS OHSAS 18001:2007 in relation to production and supply of electricity and heat. In total the system of management was assessed as positive. Recommendations and discrepancies for bringing the processes and elements of system of management to the requirements of international standards, issued by the external auditors , are taken into account during preparing to the second stage of certification, planned for August.

The issues of environmental protection are included in the instructions and topic plans of personnel technical training. In the last 3 year the innovators and inventors of Nizhnekamsk CHP filed over 120 innovative applications aimed at rational use of natural resources and reduction of impact of engineering environmental equipment. April through June of 2009 the specialists and mangers of Nizhnekamsk CHP among other 90 students of JSC "Generation Company" pursued training and certification in environmental safety in accordance with the requirements of Federal Service for environmental, technological and nuclear inspection. This training and certification were conducted in JSC "Generation Company" for the first time and were the first such events in Republic of Tatarstan.

As part of the Board it is planned to visit the clock tower and the mosque of Nizhnekamsk CHP as well as the tour around the plant and familiarizing with the technology of recycling the water pre-treatment wastes.
