OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2009. Being the leader of the Russian truck industry and one of guarantors of defence capability of the Russian Federation KAMAZ Inc. took the most active part in the 7th International Exhibition of Armament, Military Equipment and Ammunition RussianExpoArms-2009 which was held on 8-11 July in Nizhny Tagil.

Military equipment, armament, ammunition and their components as well as equipment of railroad troops from the leading producers of 40 states was presented at the exhibition. The products of KAMAZ Inc. traditionally arouse a great interest of visitors many of which represent armies of different countries. On 8 July, it was the first day of the exhibition, there were held 10 negotiations on deliveries of the KAMAZ military equipment.

An artillery prime mover KAMAZ-6350 with an armored cab and a habitable compartment for a team was presented at the exhibition. The vehicle equipped with a brand-name engine V8 with 360 hp is intended for towing ordnance 2A36, 2A65 as well as for deployment and transportation of a team and special cargoes (ammunition). Besides, up to 8 people of a crew can move in the vehicle: a driver and a commander – in a cab, 6 people – in a habitable compartment. The habitable compartment is armored, of a van type, with thermo-insulation of “sandwich” panels, equipped with two doors and two hatches in the roof of the compartment providing a crew with an opportunity to go out through them in an emergency as well as to fire air and ground objects with personal arms. KAMAZ-6350 develops a speed of 95 km p.h., is able to get over a slope at an angle of 31 degrees and fords 1.75 meters deep. The artillery prime mover is equipped with a mechanism of loading and unloading (a crane-manipulator IM-50) with a carrying capacity of 2000 kg and with a maximal crane radius of 6.14 m.

The second vehicle, an artic KAMAZ-65225, is a multipurpose vehicle equipped with one of the most powerful brand-name engines KAMAZ 740.37.400 (V8) of 400 h.p. The artic can tow a semi-trailer with GVW of 70 t developing a speed of 70 km p.h.

Vehicles on KAMAZ-5350 chassis look more modest but no less functional and efficient. A side KAMAZ-5350 with an armored cab and a functional module protecting passengers inside it from destruction weapons according to Class 5 (GOST R 50963-96) is great for transportation of a crew. The vehicle is equipped with a secondary protection set which underwent a trial running inspection in the 21st NII MO RF (Research Institute of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation), tests for anti-bullet resistance and immunity to fragmentation effects from explosion of hand grenades in 38 NII MO RF in a vehicle KAMAZ-5350 and which was taken by MO RF for security.

A side KAMAZ-5350 with a crane-manipulator installation (CMI) IM-55 aroused military men’s great interest. The CMI installed on the vehicle intended for cargo transportation saves labor force considerably by loading and unloading of the vehicle, quickens the process and provides a driver of the vehicle with a high level of autonomy. The crane-manipulator installation with carrying capacity of 2 tonnes, with a crane radius of 6.78 meters can raise a cargo to the height of 9 meters and lower it to the depth of 3.67 meters which in combination with specifications of a vehicle KAMAZ-5350 well-known to customers makes this model of a special vehicle ideal for work under the most difficult conditions.

Another vehicle presented at the exhibition – a special armored vehicle KAMAZ-43269 Dozor (Patrol) intended for patrol and reconnaissance services as well as for convoying showed itself to good advantage at tests. At the same time Dozor protects a crew and landing forces. The armored vehicle can quickly gain a speed of 90 km p.h. which ensures successful execution of tasks. Dozor is meant for operation at the ambient temperature from -45°С to +50°С, the relative air humidity of 98%, the wind speed of 30 meters per second, in the mountain terrain at the heights of 4500 m. There is a room for 6 soldiers, including a driver and a commander in the vehicle, and a 16-millimeter armor provides them with a full local armoring under fire according to the 6th protection class. Moreover the soldiers have got an opportunity to fire the enemy through loopholes.

A side vehicle KAMAZ-6560 (8x8) with a hydromechanical transmission (HMT) is one of the most powerful vehicles of the Kama auto plant. A brand-name engine of 400 h.p. is installed on it. Specialists see all advantages of Kama heavy vehicles from the lines of high payload 6520 as well as of army Mustangs in KAMAZ-6560. The vehicle can transport a cargo of 19 tonnes towing a 12-tonne trailer at the same time. In addition, this giant is quick and maneuverable, develops a speed of 50 km p.h. and can get over fords 1.75 meters deep, for example.

The HMT DP6A.1400 installed on the vehicle simplified driving, eliminated events of automatic motor stoppage, improved passability of the vehicle, enlarged a service life of transmission and power plant details.
