OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2009. Solemnity of putting into operation of a cereal terminal at the Giurgiulesti-based Port. In a speech given at the festivity, the president said that the today's ceremony is already the second event of such an importance of Moldova, which occurred in 2009, following the inauguration of the Giurgiulesti passenger port.

Vladimir Voronin highlighted also the fact that the putting into operation of the terminal takes place despite the conditions of the global recession. He said that this is a conclusive proof that Moldova continues to develop in these difficult times.

Attending the festivity, U.S. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Asif J. Chaudhry said that the putting into operation of the cereal terminal with the contribution of the American Company GSI International represents a clear sign of the USA's commitment before Moldova. The U.S. diplomat described the today's event as historical for Moldova. He emphasized the opportunities offered by this unit to the export of Moldovan farming goods, boosting economic activities, in particular, in southern Moldova and creating new jobs.
