OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2009. Number of Internet users in Uzbekistan reached 2.6 million people in the first six months of 2009, which is approximately 91.5 users per 1,000 people, the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information said.

At the beginning of 2009, there were 2.4 million Internet users in the country.

About 897 companies offer services on transmission of data and Internet connectivity, there are 937 Internet public access centers in the country.

The speed of access to international information networks is 831 Мbs. The number of domains registered in .UZ zone amounted to more than 8,500.

The digitalization of ground phone communication reached 90.8%.

During the reporting period, communication and information-communication enterprises rendered services for 802 billion soums, or up 24% year-on-year. About 56% of income or 451.2 billion were received from rendering services to population.
