OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2009. ISS-20 commander Gennady Padalka carries out new experiments Uragan and Bar. He also starts session of medical experiment Sonocard.

Bar is to validate methods of air leak detection in the ISS. This experiment takes its orgin from Mir orbital station. Orbital leak checks were incorporated in the crew program after Progress smashed into Spektr module.

Uragan is to imporove effectiveness in earthquake, flood, forest fire, hurricane, etc. prediction/ Padalka mkes images of the surface in different areas. The experiment helps setting requirements to emergency monitoting system and picking the equipment for such system, as well as validate data processing and downloading methods.
