OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 July 2009 was announced, that management of the Contemporary museum of calligraphy met with a participant of the American National Exhibition held in Moscow’s Sokolniki exhibition centre in 1959.

We met with Khrushchev’s personal interpreter Yury Lepanov. Together with the USSR delegation Mr Lepanov visited the opening ceremony of the National American Exhibition on July 24, 2009. He recalled many interesting stories and details of that past show, and by the way commented on the legendary “kitchen debate” between the First Secretary CPSU Central Committee Nikita Khrushchev and American President-to-be Richard Nixon.
