Azal Refused to Renew Its Aircraft Fleet
OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2009. Azal CJSC (Azerbaijan Airlines) has curtailed today a programme of its aircraft fleet renewal.
Azal reports that it does not expect delivery of new airliners in 2009.
“The new Boeing liners will be supplied in 2010 on the basis of the relevant agreement signed last year,” Azal informed.
In 2010-11 Azal will receive four new liners Boeing-737-900-ER and 2010-14 – by two liners Boeing-767-300-ER and Boeing-787-8. The will be used in flights to Europe, South-Eastern Asia and America.
The previous contract between AZAL and Boeing stipulates delivery of two Boeing-737 Dream-900 (180-seat) and three Boeing-787 (240-seat) to the country.
Azal expected to receive the first Boeing-737 Dream-900 in early February 2009 and 787 – by mid-2009.
The first agreement was signed between Boeing Civil Airliners’s director Scott Karson and AzAL general director Jahangir Askerov on 6 February 2007.
