OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2009. SOGAZ Insurance Group has concluded a contract for insurance of property owned by the branches of OJSC Concern Energoatom, reported the press-centre of SOGAZ.

SOGAZ is to provide insurance coverage for the buildings, structures, operating equipment and other types of physical assets of ten Nuclear Power Plants against the risk of explosion, fire and lightning stroke for the period of one year. The total amount of coverage under the contract is RUR 62.7 billion.

OJSC Concern Energoatom was established in 1992 (prior to its corporatization – Federal State Unitary Enterprise Concern Rosenergoatom). Today, the concern incorporates all the ten Russian nuclear power plants, which operate 31 energy generating units producing the total of 23,242 MW, 7 energy generating units under construction, both on the operational and newly-commissioned sites and 6 branches, which provide operability assurance for the nuclear plants.

It is worth mentioning that last year OJSC Concern Energoatom also placed insurance against the above risks with SOGAZ Insurance Group.
