OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2009. IFAC workshop was held in Samara RAS Scientific Center to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishment of the former Central Specialized Design Bureau (TsSKB) currently “TsSKB-Progress” State Research and Production Space Center, the former Scientific Production Association of Applied Mechanics (NPO-PM) currently “Information Satellite Systems” Public Corporation named after academician Reshetnev, and to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Kozlov D.I., RAS Corresponding Member.

The workshop was conducted on the following topics (http://www.ssc.smr.ru/agnfcs09.html) :
guidance, navigation and flight control of aerospace vehicles
guidance and navigation of missiles and launch vehicles
high-accurate attitude control in aerospace engineering
in-flight coordinate tasking of onboard space systems
non-linear dynamics of motion control systems
implementation of onboard control algorithms.

Basic sponsor of the workshop was IFAC Technical Committee on aerospace systems control (http://www.supelec.fr/invi/ifac/). As well, the Workshop was supported by the following institutions: Russian National Committee on automated control, which represents Russia in IFAC (http://www.ifac-control.org/), RAS Power Engineering, Mechanics, Machine Building and Control Processes Department, Russian Fundamental Research Foundation, “Navigation and Motion Control Academy” International Association, International Society on Physics and Control , TsSKB-Progress, “Information Satellite Systems” Public Corporation named after academician Reshetnev and Samara Oblast Government.

There were 9 plenary reports, 26 sessional reports and 49 poster papers on the agenda of the Workshop. 123 participants represented 12 countries (Russia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Holland, Japan, Check Republic, Turkey, Algeria, Nigeria). Russia was represented by 98 people including 23 members of “Navigation and Motion Control Academy” International Association headed by Academician Peshekhonov, President.

During the Opening Speech the Chairman - academician Kurzhansky, Russian National Committee on automated control – mentioned that following the two capitals (St. – Petersburg, 2004, 2007 and Moscow, 2009) Samara praiseworthily organized an important scientific IFAC event with attendance of IFAC Technical Committee Management and world-known experts in aerospace control. The reason for that are wide scientific capabilities and state-of-the-practice demonstrated by Samara Aerospace Scientific and Technological Cluster as well as imperious necessity that urges us to develop international scientific collaboration.

The following presentations were made during plenary sessions:

SRP SC “TsSKB-Progress”: Trends and Future Prospects. A.N.Kirilin, R.N.Akhmetov, S.I.Tkachenko;

Autonomous control systems for remote sensing satellites. G.P.Anshakov

Problematic points regarding autonomous functional control of low-orbit remote sensing satellites. R. N.  Akhmetov, A.V.Sollogub.

Participants of the Workshop visited Space Samara, the City Central Aerospace Museum. They enjoyed their leisure time immensely as it was full of entertainment and fun.

The Closing Ceremony was marked with presentation of the routine scientific event – The 18th IFAC Symposium on aerospace control (http://www.space.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/aca2010/) to be held by IFAC Aerospace Technical Committee in Japan September 6-10, 2010.
