NMCA Department to Be Established in Samara
OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2009. In 2008 Navigation and Motion Control Academy Presidium made a decision to set the seventh regional department of the Academy. It became Samara Department.
To carry out this decision there was held a meeting in Samara with participation of Navigation and Motion Control Academy Presidium, namely its Chariman V.G.Peshekhonov, members of Presidium A.V.Nebivalov, Yu.A. Lukomsky, A.E.Sazonov and member of St-Petersburg Department of the Academy B.E.Landau. The main item on the agenda was establishment of Samara Department of the Academy and election of its Chairman and Scientific secretary.
The event took place in the premises of the regional leading company – “TsSKB-Progress” State Research and Production Space Center with the Samara NMCA scientific board in council assembled (17 members) and professor A.N.Kirilin, General Director of the company, full member of the Academy of Cosmonautics named after Tsiolkovsky, Chairman of the Volga Region Department of the Academy of Cosmonautics, Doctor of Engineering.
In his Opening Speech academician Peshekhonov, NMCA Chairman, specified generic aspects of the Academy establishment and activity, covered certain scientific problems already resolved and waiting to be resolved by the Academy, and drew special attention to activity of the young scientists’ department. Report of academician Peshekhonov provoked a spirited discussion among the sitters. Prof. Kirilin showed particular interest in forms of NMCA organization, young scientists’ department activity, and interaction with “Elektropribor” Research Institute, being sponsoring enterprise.
Academician Peshekhonov gave detailed explanations on all the issues touched upon, mentioned strong constructive potential of the Samara scientific community and expressed his confidence of its effective activity for Navigation and Motion Control Academy Samara Department.
In his statement R.N.Akhmetov, TsSKB-Progress General Designer, NMCA member, addressed profile of the company as regards its space activity and spin-off production. There were mentioned relevant points regarding survivability of remote sensing satellites and construction of the equatorial spaceport in French Guiana.
At the suggestion of R.N.Akhmetov, Professor G. P. Anshakov - Doctor of Engineering, RAS corresponding member, scholar of authority, Deputy General Designer at TsSKB-Progress, was unanimously designated as Chairman of the Motion Control Academy Samara Department; whereas professor V.P.Makarov – Doctor of Engineering, scientific consultant at TsSKB-Progress, was nominated for Scientific Secretary position.
TsSKB-Progress was unanimously approved to become sponsor of the Navigation and Motion Control Academy Samara Department.
To finish up the scientific session Professor P.K.Kuznetsov – Doctor of Engineering, NMCA member took the floor with the report “Optical Flow Method in provision of quality and improvement of imagery resolution during remote sensing of the Earth”.
In the further discussion Prof. P.K.Kuznetsov justified in detail advantages of the suggested method as compared to current well-known techniques.
On completion of the meeting the Academy Presidium members acquainted themselves with the Soyuz-type middle-class launch vehicle manufacturing cycle.
