Azerfon Intends to Settle Issue of Interconnection Cut with Azercell
OREANDA-NEWS. July 22, 2009. Azerfon is negotiating with Azercell to settle the matter of mutual monthly payments via Internet communication.
Azerfon CEO Guido Helbich said that this is not the first time when Azercell takes such measures against its subscribers and subscribes of Nar Mobile.
“I am shocked with Azercell’s such attitude. Certain problems with payment transfers occur with other mobile phone operators as well. Now we are conducting talks on the issue. We intend to protect our subscribers from illegal actions of Azercell,” Mr. Helbich said.
Today leading operator of mobile phone communications Azercell Telecom LLC announced of cutting the interconnection with Azerfon LLC (trademark: Nar Mobile). Azercell’s statement said that a reason for that was Azerfon’s systematic breach of monthly payment terms of the interconnection agreement between Azercell and Azerfon on 28 February 2007. Azerfon’s debt totaled AZN 11 million.
Azercell is numbering 4 million subscribers in Azerbaijan and Nar Mobile more than 1.3 million subscribers.
