TATNEFT Invites Scientists to Discuss Increasing in Oil Reserves
OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2009. The enlarged joint meeting of the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Academic Council of TatNIPIneft was held on at the TatNIPIneft R&D Institute of OAO TATNEFT on the issue of studies about possible increase in recoverable oil reserves through the intratelluric oil inflow, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.
The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Institute of Geology and Fossil Fuels, the Kazan State University, the Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry named after Arbuzov, the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), a number of OAO TATNEFT divisions and others.
The attention of scientists and oilmen has been drawn to the subject of discussion by numerous examples of the pulsating rhythm of old oil wells in which the water cut of the extracted liquid rises and falls after a certain period of their operation. In this regard the example of one of the world's largest deposits of Romashkinskoye oil field, which has been under development for over 65 years, is illustrative. The volume of oil produced at the field exceeds at present the initial estimates of recoverable reserves, and in a number of wells the production rate decline is replaced by a long-term growth. In addition, the presence of oil deposits in the crystalline basement in several countries with the most notable one at the White Tiger field in Vietnam shows the great practical importance of such research for the discovery of new reserves.
Greatest interest was provoked by the reports of R. Kh. Muslimov, Consultant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan on the development of oil and oil/gas fields, Doctor of Geology and Mineralogy Science, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences "Study of possible oil recoverable reserves increase at the expense of the intratelluric oil inflow in the oil deposit development"; R.R. Ibatullin, Director of TatNIPIneft, Ph.D., Academician of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Tatarstan "About some results of studies on the possibility of current oil inflow"; V.G. Kucherov, Doctor of Chemical Science, Professor of the Stockholm Royal Institute of Technology and the Moscow Academy of Fine Chemical Technology "Modern theory of inorganic origin of intratelluric hydrocarbon origin; I. Plotnikova, Doctor of Geological Science, Petroleum Geology Chair Head of the Kazan State University "The main directions and methods of intratelluric hydrocarbons inflow", etc.
The meeting participants noted the importance of further research of the raised problems and they called on the governmental authorities, the public and industry representatives to support the theoretical and practical studies of the scientists in this field.
