OREANDA-NEWS. On 21 July 2009 was announced, that the general director of the famous Belgian company "ENEX process engineering SA", Kun Mine, informed President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about the high interest of the European Union member states in purchases of Turkmen natural gas at a meeting on July 16. He conveyed the European Commission's proposals to that effect.

According to the businessman, "Turkmenistan, who firmly holds the status of the world energy power and whose approaches to cooperation meet the goals of ensuring global energy security, is viewed as a very reliable and responsible partner in Europe."

"Possessing the enormous hydrocarbon potential, Turkmenistan has been committed to diversification of its energy exports to the world markets," Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said. He noted that resources available in Turkmenistan make it possible to implement any major projects in this area. As part of its energy policy, Turkmenistan is ready to cooperate with its strategic partners, including the EU countries, the president said.

In this context, the interlocutors discussed the specific aspects and prospects of interaction in this sphere taking into account the interests of the sides and contemporary situation in the world energy market.
