OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 July 2009 was announced, that Turkmenistan and Iran have agreed to increase supplies of Turkmen natural gas to 14 billion cubic meters annually, of which 8 billion will come from the Korpeje deposit located in the west of Turkmenistan, and 6 billion cubic meters - from the south-eastern field of Dovletabad.

As Turkmenistan.ru learned from the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, in this regard a gas pipeline will be built in the east of Turkmenistan in 2009 to the border with the Islamic Republic of Iran to begin deliveries of additional gas in the IV quarter of this year.

The relevant agreements were achieved on the results of a working visit of the Iranian government delegation led by Adviser to the Minister of Petroleum, Director General of the National Gas Export Company of Iran, Seyed Reza Kesaizade, on 10-11 July. The relevant documents were signed as a result of negotiations.

The sides also agreed on the market price of natural gas supplied from Turkmenistan to Iran, calculated on the basis of an international formula.

The sides also discussed the possibility of increasing supplies of Turkmen natural gas to Iran with a view to bringing their total amount to 20 billion cubic meters a year, and prospects for use of resources of the Dovletabat field, the Foreign Ministry noted.
