Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan Held New Round of Caspian Talks
OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2009. The Turkmen-Azerbaijani talks on the Caspian Sea related issues started in Baku. The Turkmen delegation had arrived in the capital of the Azerbaijani Republic on the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The expert groups of the two countries are led by the foreign ministers.
According the press service of the MFA of Turkmenistan this meeting is a new stage of the negotiation process initiated between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan and aimed at demarcating the seabed and resources of the Caspian Sea. During the talks the sides will exchange views on the relevant issues including the approaches to such kinds of the activities on the Caspian Sea as shipping, fishery, hydrometeorology, etc.
Turkmenistan stands steadfast in achieving an agreement on the demarcation of the seabed and resources of the Caspian Sea in compliance with international law norms and the principles of justice.
The meeting between the experts groups of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will last till July 17.
