OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2009. The year 2008 has been another year of increase in the number of handled cargo for MTMG - Maritime Bulk Terminal Gdynia. By reloading over 3.7 million tons of various cargo, the gdynian bulk terminal broke the next record of handled bulk, which is better than the last one from 2007 by 4.7 per cent. It means that the year 2008 has been the best one in terminals history. A good preview of 2009 was made by the reloading in the first quarter of this years.
- We have achieved a good reloading score - during the first three months we exceeded the plan with 1.5 per cent - says Bogdan Buczko, chairman of MTMG - Maritime Bulk Terminal Gdynia - The biggest part of cargo is coal, majority of which (538 thousand tons) was import. The reloading of grain and feed is also being conducted according to plan. However, because of the reasons not connected with us, we wasnt able to fulfill the plan of kruszywo reload. The reloading of fuel handled by the Liquid Fuels Reloading Station by the wavecrusher is also beneath the plan. Rуwnieї przeіadunek pasz i zbуї w naszym terminalu przebiega zgodnie z planem rocznym.
In total, in the first quarter of 2009 MTMG - Maritime Bulk Terminal Gdynia has reloaded over 993 thousand tons of various cargo. However, the effects of world crisis started to be visible. Until now, April has been the weakest month this year.
it is worth highlighting that the past year of 2008 confirmed that MTMG - Maritime Bulk Terminal Gdynia is now a modern universal terminal, that is ready to handle all sorts of cargo which demand high quality of services and maintainence of European ecological norms. The deepening of basin III - now units up to 12.7 meters of draught can moor by Holenderskie quay - made handling of panamax ships, that carry 50-70 thousand tons of cargo possible. It allows the company to look into the future with moderate optimism.
