State Hermitage to Hold 8th Big Waltz International Music Festival
OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2009. From July 10 to July 20, 2009 the State Hermitage will hold the 8th Big Waltz International Music Festival in St. Petersburg under the auspices of the Bank of Moscow.
This project unites the biggest cultural establishments of St. Petersburg and Vienna under the auspices of the Hermitage. Concerts of the festival will be held in the Winter Palace, the Grand Palace of Peterhof, the Catherine’s Palace in Tsarskoe Selo, the Pavlovsk Rose Pavilion. The festival is destined to develop the traditions of chamber music-making, the genres of the concerts are determined as symphonic musicales, singing and literature and music nights.
The Orchestra of the State Hermitage directed by Vladimir Ziva, the State Russian Folk Orchestra named after V.V. Andreev directed by Dmitry Khokhlov, the State Symphonic Orchestra Classics directed by Alexander Kantorov, chamber orchestra The Soloists of St. Petersburg, the Admiralty Orchestra of the Leningrad Navy Base, pianists Vladimir Mishchuk and Alexey Orlovetsky, cellist Sergei Roldugin, a solist of the Marriinsky Theatre Elena Mirtova, laureate of international competitions Pyotr Laul, soloists of the Vienna Opera Hervig Pekoraro, Marchella Cherrno, director and soloist Piter Gut.
The Bank of Moscow has been cooperating with the State Hermitage since 2005. The Bank has been a general sponsor of the Big Waltz festival during four years running.
