Russia Reviews Law on Energy Saving
OREANDA-NEWS. July 09, 2009. Head of “IDGC Holding”, JSC told about results of State Council which took place in Arkhangelsk the day before
Nikolay Shvets, General Director of IDGC Holding held a meeting in Arkhenergo. At the meeting, he listed results of the State Council devoted to the topic of energy effectiveness which took place in Arkhangelsk the day before. Thereafter, he listened to reports of the branch of IDGC of North-West managers on the situation in the region’s electric power industry.
“It has been mentioned in speeches of President and during other statements, that today losses in electric grids are significant and reach 25% at Holding in average. It means that electric grids are in unsatisfactory condition which can be shown by the example of “Arkhenergo” as depreciation reaches 70%,” said Nikolay Shvets. “Moreover, over the last 20 years not a single energy object was built in the Arkhangelsk region. Unfortunately, this problem is not a local one.
That’s why the State Council made the following decision: one of the most important tasks for today is revision of the law on energy saving, which has already passed the first reading in the State Duma, and its passing in autumn this year. President has already set the task for the Government to revise corresponding by-laws so that it was possible to realize the measures provided for by the law beginning with 1 January 2010”.
