OREANDA-NEWS. July 9, 2009. OOO KAMAZ-COMPONENTS, an associated company of KAMAZ Inc., shipped the first batch of KAMAZ bus chassis to ZAO VAP Volzhanin to create prototypes of buses corresponding to modern Russian and world progress trends of transport infrastructure.

The first contacts of KAMAZ Inc. with the enterprises of Volzhanin GC (Group of Companies) date back to 2000. In 2006 the managers of Volzhanin expressed their interest in the use of 13 positions of automobile components produced by KAMAZ Inc., including axles and fuel tanks. In a year the delegation of Volzhanin headed by design manager Victor Knyazev visited KAMAZ to discuss issues of automobile components delivery. An agreement on confidentiality was signed during the visit, the enterprise received KAMAZ design documentation for 23 items.

At the end of February ZAO VAP Volzhanin made an inquiry about an opportunity to make and deliver KAMAZ-5297-0001570-98 and KAMAZ-5297-0001570-65 chassis. The issue was decided positively and at the moment this project is being realized.

Volzhanin will receive specimens of KAMAZ-5297-1080-98 and KAMAZ-5297-1515-98 chassis. In July Volzhanin will get specimens of KAMAZ-5297-1091-98, KAMAZ-5297-1511-65 and KAMAZ-5297-1511-98 bus chassis. Delivery of KAMAZ-5297-1076-31 gas-powered bus chassis is planned for September.

Besides, designers of KAMAZ R&D Center jointly with specialists of VAP Volzhanin are currently studying an opportunity to produce KAMAZ-52974-0001380-G3 and 52974-0001270-G3 low-floor bus chassis this autumn.

Interest of GC Volzhanin in cooperation with KAMAZ Inc. is explained by a wish to increase an occupied share of the big class buses market. Participation of KAMAZ Inc. in this project will enable Volzhanin to accumulate resources for development of original bodywork and for promotion of finished products. Volzhanin buses on KAMAZ chassis will first of all be delivered to the markets of the South of Russia, Moscow and Moscow Oblast, Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast. It is noteworthy that these regions are not traditional outlets for products of Neftekamsk Automobile Plant, an associated enterprise of KAMAZ Inc., which will make it possible to increase the territory of sales of buses on KAMAZ chassis.

It is planned to assemble buses on chassis of KAMAZ Inc. directly in Naberezhnye Chelny delivering painted elements of aluminum bodies from Volzhsky. Such a decision will enable to considerably cut down costs connected with logistics because it’s planned to assemble up to 300 Volzhanin buses on KAMAZ chassis a day.
