OREANDA-NEWS. On 07 July 2009 was announced, that first oil was shipped from the Yylakly field in the Central Karakum to the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries. According to the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), the experimental-industrial exploitation of the field is carried out by subdivisions of the Turkmenneft state concern.

On the same day, an oil station was inaugurated near Baharly district of Akhal province located 65 kilometers south of the oil field. Oil produced in the Karakum desert will be transported from the oil station by rail to the system of pipelines connected to the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries.

It is expected that daily oil output at the Yylakly field will reach 150 tons in future. Apart from the Yylakly field, the development of the Mydar field is to start soon as part of the investment project for the development of promising oil and gas bearing areas in the Central Karakum, which is funded by the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan. Up to 350 tons of oil will be produced daily at the field in the course of its commercial operation.

With the growth of oil production at the Yylakly and Mydare fields, there will be built a 140-kilometer pipeline to ensure oil transportation from the two fields to the oil station in Baharly. Until then, oil will be shipped by trucks.

Turkmenistan hopes to bring oil production to 10.9 million tons in 2009.
