OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2009. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Antimonopoly Service suspects that Rosselkhoznadzor violated Part 1 Article 15 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" by refusing to grant permission to economic entities - sellers of imported zoological goods - for importing regulated goods to the Russian Federation, if the goods sold by the companies belong to this category. According to the information available to FAS Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor puts unreasonable requirements to the participants of the market of imported zoological goods for exercising actions that are not provided for by the existing legislation: they must inform the exporters if suppliers needed to be included in the list of companies authorised to export the goods to the Russian Federation.

The case was initiated upon a petition of the "Union of Zoological Business Enterprises" Non-Profit Organisation.

The case will be heard on 30th July 2009.
